Refund Policy

This policy sets out when you can cancel, what you get back, and how to ask. It applies to every service we sell and forms part of our Terms of Service.

The short version. Cancel within 14 days of paying, before work has started, and you get everything back. After work starts, you pay for the stage that has been done, and we refund the rest. Money already spent with third parties, such as ISBNs, printing and ad spend, cannot be recovered.

01Before you commit

Consultations and quotes are free and carry no obligation. Nothing is charged until you accept a written quote and pay a deposit, so there is no risk in finding out what your book needs and what it would cost.

Your quote lists every service, deliverable, revision round and price. That document is what any refund is measured against, so read it before you approve it and ask us about anything that is not clear.

02Cooling-off period

You have 14 days from the date you pay your deposit to cancel for any reason and receive a full refund, provided we have not yet started work.

refund, provided we have not yet started work. If you ask us to begin within those 14 days and we do, the cooling-off refund is reduced by the value of the work completed. We will always tell you before work starts, so you can decide whether to wait out the 14 days first.

03Refunds once work has started

Once a stage is underway, refunds are calculated on what has actually been done. Each stage is treated separately, so cancelling during editing does not mean you forfeit what you have paid toward marketing.

Refund available on the fee for each service, by the stage that service has reached:

Refund available on the fee for each service, by stage reached.
Stage reached Refund on that service
Paid, not yet allocated to a specialist 100%
Allocated and scheduled, no work produced 85%
First draft or first concept delivered 50%
In revision rounds 25%
Final files delivered and approved No refund

Services you have paid for but not yet begun are refunded in full at any point. Everything you have been charged for is yours to keep and use, including part-finished drafts and design files.

04Third-party costs

Some costs leave our hands the moment they are incurred and cannot be recovered. These are never refundable once spent:

  • ISBNs, barcodes and copyright registration fees.
  • Printing, proof copies and shipping.
  • Distribution and retailer set-up fees.
  • Advertising spend already delivered on Amazon, Meta or any other platform.
  • Stock image, font and other asset licences purchased for your project.

We itemise these separately on every quote so you can see exactly what is at risk before you approve them. Any amount we hold but have not yet spent is returned to you in full.

05Marketing campaigns

Management fees follow the stage table in section 3. Ad spend is refundable only to the extent it has not yet been delivered by the platform. You can pause or stop a campaign at any time and we will return the unspent balance.

Because campaign performance depends on factors outside our control, we do not refund management fees on the basis of results.

06Let us fix it first

If the work is not what you expected, tell us before asking for a refund. Most problems come from a brief that drifted, and they are usually fixable.

  • Send us your concerns in writing with specific examples.
  • We respond within 3 business days with a plan to put it right.
  • We will use the revision rounds in your quote, at no extra cost, to get there.
  • If you are still not satisfied after those rounds, a refund under section 3 remains available to you.

Asking us to fix something does not shorten or waive your refund rights.

07What is not refundable

  • Work you have approved as final.
  • Third-party costs already spent, as set out in section 4.
  • Ghostwriting or editing where the manuscript materially differed from what you described and you were told before we began.
  • Requests based on sales, rankings, reviews or retailer decisions. We do not guarantee commercial outcomes and do not refund on that basis.
  • Projects cancelled by us because material breached our content standards.

08How to request a refund

  • Email info@reedsyinc.com with the subject line "Refund request" and your project reference.
  • Tell us which services you are cancelling and why. You do not need to justify a cooling-off cancellation.
  • We acknowledge within 2 business days and confirm the refund amount within 5 business days, with the calculation shown.
  • Approved refunds are issued within 10 business days to the original payment method.
  • Your bank may take a further 3 to 10 days to show the funds.

09If we cancel

If we end a project for a reason that is not your fault, for example we cannot staff it to the standard we promised, you receive a full refund of all fees paid for work not yet delivered, and we hand over everything completed to that point at no charge.

10Chargebacks

If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us first. We would rather sort it out directly and quickly than through your card issuer.

Raising a chargeback while a refund request is already in progress with us may delay resolution, since the payment processor freezes the funds until the dispute closes.

11Your rights and your book

You keep all rights to your book and 100% of your royalties at every stage. We are a service provider, not a publisher, and a cancellation or refund does not give us any claim over your work or your sales.

12Changes to this policy

We update this page from time to time. The version in effect on the date you approved your quote is the version that applies to your project. Changes are never applied retroactively to work already underway.
